Ripple.co Finds $4M For Local Journalism Effort
San Francisco-based Ripple.co, a new startup aimed at creating a community of local journalists, has raised $4M in a Series A funding. The funding came from Greylock Partners, Graph Ventures, Social Capital, Charles River Ventures, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, Pejman Mar Ventures, Matter Ventures, 500 Startups, Joi Ito, Director of MIT Media Lab, and angels Blake Krikorian, Magdalena Yesil and Shane Smith. The company said it is launching local networks of journalists and storytellers, starting with San Francisco, Oakland, New York, London, Cairo, and Bangkok. Ripple is led by Razmig Hovaghimian.
