San Francisco-based Scoop, which develops an automated, carpooling app, has raised $5.1M in a funding round, the company said Wednesday. The funding was led by Signia Venture Partners, and also included Index Ventures, BMW i Ventures, and Workday Ventures. Scoop's apps--which run on iOS and Android--allow users to automatically match themselves with other people commuting in the same direction, in near real time. The company has partnerships with such corporate partners as Cisco, Salesforce, Workday, Airbnb, Tesla, and Sandisk. Scoop was founded by Rob Sadow. As part of the funding, Signia's Rick Thompson joins the company's board. More information »
