Trace Genomics Digs Up $4M For Soil Microbe Testing
San Francisco-based Trace Genomics is looking to bring the world of DNA testing to agriculture, saying today that it has launched a new service to test the microbiome of soils, to help farmers figure out what diseases might affect their crops. The startup said it has raised $4M in a funding round for its efforts. Source of that funding was not announced. The company uses DNA testing for its services, and says it is initially aiming at growers of strawberries and lettuce with its soil microbiome testing services. Trace Genomics was founded by Dr. Diane Wu and Dr. Poornima Parameswaran.
