AppliedMicro Acquired By MACOM

Sunnyvale-based Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (which now goes by the name AppliedMicro), has been acquired by MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc., the two companies said today. The comapnies said that MACOM will pay approximately $770M for AppledMicro, or $8.36 per share, split between $3.25 in cash and 0.1089 MACOM share per share of AppliedMicro. The price is 15.4 percent premium over AMCC's closing price on Friday. As part of the deal, MACOM said it will also divest AppliedMicro's Compute business within 100 days of closing. AppliedMicro is a manufacturer of a wide range of semiconductors, including networking semiconductors.
