Edison Software Acquires Business From Return Path

San Jose-based Edison Software, the developer of email software and provider of e-commerce data extracted from emails, said it has acquired Return Path's Consumer Insights business. Financial details of that acquisition were not announced. Edison Software said it will merge the Consumer Insights business into its Edison Trends platform. Edison Software provides email software for consumers, and then uses information anonymously extracted out of those emails to provide analytics on national purchase trends and shopping demand, based on parsing the emails handled by its software. Edison is venture backed by Mayfield, USVP, Nautilus Venture Partners and Emerillon Capital.
