Chirp Microsystems Acquired By TDK
TDK Corporation announced late Tuesday evening that it has acquired Berkeley-based Chirp Microsystems. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Chirp is a developer of ultrasonic, 3D sensing, MEMs sensors, used in smartphones, in AR and VR, and other applications. The company's sensors can sense everywhere from centimeters to meters. Chirp was led by CEO Michelle Kiang. Chirp's technology was originally developed at the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center (BSAC) at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Davis.
