Propeller Health Acquired For $225M By ResMed
Propeller Health, a developer of digital health products for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, which has offices in San Francisco, has been acquired by ResMed, in a deal worth $225M. According to ResMed, Propeller Health will operate as a standalone business, and continue to maintain its COPD and asthma product solutions. ResMed's products are used to increase medication adherence in those COPD and asthma patients, by using small sensors which attach to inhalers and use a mobile app to track medication usage. ResMed said the acquisition of Propeller boosts its support for people who have stage II and II COPD; ResMed already makes ventilators for those with state III and IV COPD. ResMed was based in Madison, Wisconsin, and also had an office in San Francisco. ResMed develops medical devices and software, and is based in San Diego. ResMed was advised by DLA Piper in the deal; Propeller was advised by Allen & Company LLC as financial advisor and Fenwick & West LLP as its legal advisor.
