Symantec Acquires Vontu For $350M

Cupertino-based Symantec said Monday afternoon that it has acquired Vontu, a San Francisco-based developer of data loss prevention software, for $350M in cash. Symantec said the deal is expected to close in Q4 of 2007. Vontu's products are used by companies to prevent the loss of sensitive information through computer networks. The company's software works on email, web, and instant messaging networks. Vontu was venture backed by Benchmark Capital, Venrock, and U.S. Venture Partners.
