Synopsys Buys Synplicity

Mountain View-based Synposys has acquired Sunnyvale-based Synplicity, the firms said Thursday. Synplicity provides software used for design and verification of semiconductors; Synopsys also designs software used for ASIC and other circuit design. The deal is worth approximately $227M, $8 in cash per Synplicity share. According to the firms, the deal will close in the second quarter of 2008. Synplicity was advised by Deutsche Bank Securities in the deal.
