Cisco Buys Greenfield Networks

San Jose-based Cisco today said it is buying Sunnyvale-based Greenfield Networks, a provider of integrated circuits used for Ethernet packet procesing. Financial terms were not disclosed. Greenfield's products are used for Metro Ethernet services, and according to Cisco are highly complementary to its existing line of Metro Ethernet products. Greenfield Networks employs 60 in Sunnyvale and Bangalore, India. The firm has received venture capital from Sequoia Capital, Global Catalyst Partners, Walden International, and JPMorgan Partners.
