eMotorWerks Acquired By Enel

San Carlos-based eMotorWerks, a manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, has been acquired by Enel S.p.A., via its U.S. subsidiary, EnerNOC. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. According to Enel, the buy will help it enter the US electric mobility market. eMotorWorks' flagship product is JuiceNet, an EV charging solution which plugs into the "smart grid", letting users charge at the most cost-effective or energy efficient times--for example, when solar rooftop systems are at peak production. eMotorWorks has 55 employees.
