Future Buys BallHype

South San Francisco-based Future US, the US arm of Future plc, said Tuesday that it has acquired Belmont-based BallHype, which owns online sports news sites ballhype.com and showhype.com. Financial terms were not disclosed. BallHype was founded by Jason Gurney and Eric Gurney, and allows users to contribute and vote for sports articles. Future plc is a publisher of vertical magazines, including Guitar World, Official Xbox Magazine, Official PlayStation, Fastcar, and other publications around games, film, music, technology, cycling, automotive and crafts.
