MobiTV Gets $70M From Oak

MobiTV, an Emeryville-based firm providing television and digital radio services for cellular, Wi-Fi, and other broadband devices, has inked $70M in a round of funding. The round was led by Oak Investment Partners. MoviTV provides a subscription service that allows users to watch news, sports, entertainment, and other content via their mobile device. MobiTV currently has deals with Spring, Cingular, and Alltel, as well as internationally with Orange UK and other carriers. As part of the deal, Bandel Carano of Oak will join the firm's board of directors. More information »
