SnapTell Acquired by Amazon.com Subsidiary
Palo Alto-based SnapTell reported on its company blog Tuesday afternoon that it has been acquired by Amazon.com subsidiary A9.com. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2006, SnapTell provides a visual search service that allows consumers to learn more about products simply by taking pictures of them with their mobile phones. SnapTell's Snap.Send.Get application analyzes those images and responds with relevant product pricing, information and reviews. SnapTell noted that its service will not be interrupted as the company transitions under new ownership. SnapTell was venture backed by NEA and JK&B Capital, and based on technology from Stanford University.
