CreateSpace Helps Amazon Offer Out-of-Print Music

Scotts Valley-based CreateSpace revealed today that it is working with several prominent record labels to offer out-of-print music and albums on its parent company's Web site, Amazon.com. CreateSpace explained that more than 20 record labels are involved in Amazon's Back from the Vault program, including EMI Music, Sony Music, Warner Music Group and many independent labels. The service is powered by CreateSpace's Disc on Demand technology, CreateSpace noted, and features more than 1,000 out-of-print tracks from notable bands and artists such as Herbie Hancock, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Wyclef Jean and Alabama. Founded in 2002 as CustomFlix Labs Inc., CreateSpace was acquired by Seattle-based Amazon in 2005 and is now a business of On-Demand Publishing LLC, an Amazon subsidiary.
