SocialShield Acquired By Avira

San Bruno-based SocialShield, a developer of a service which helped parents monitor the social networking activity of their children, has been acquired by Avira. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Avira said it will add SocialShield's services to its products portfolio. SocialShield had been venture backed by U.S. Venture Partners and Venrock Associates.
