Apple, Beatles Settle Trademark Dispute
Cupertino-based Apple, Inc. and the Beatles record publishing firm Apple COrps Ltd. said today that the two have entered into a new agreement over the name "Apple" and the apple logo. According to the firms, Apple Inc. will own all trademarks related to "Apple" and will license certain of those trademarks back to Apple Corps for their continued use. The deal will also end the ongoing trademark lawsuit between the companies, both of whom will pay their own legal costs. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The two were locked in a trademark dispute over Apple Computer's use of the Apple name on its iTunes music service, under a 1991 agreement.
