California Tops Tech Employment Report

According to the latest Cyberstates report issued by the AeA, a high tech trade association, California continues to lead the nation in the number of high tech workers, job gains, and wages. The AeA's Cyberstates report tracks national and state trends in high-tech employment. Among the results, the report found that California high tech workers had the highest average wages in the nation, at $95,300, and that the state gained 14,400 jobs between 2004 and 2005, and employed 919,300 high tech workers at the end of 2005, the most current state data available. California was ranked first in the number of high tech establishments, R&D expenditures, high tech payroll, and is number 1 in computer systems jobs, telecommunications services, semiconductor manufacturing, and computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing positions.
