Seagate Sells Storage Architecture Unit
Scotts Valley, California-based hard drive firm Seagate has sold its Advanced Storage Architecture (ASA) group to Xiotech. Xiotech, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, said this morning that it has purchased certain assets of Seagate Technology's ASA business, and acquired a license to the associated technology of the group. Financial terms were not disclosed. Xiotech said that Dr. Ellen Lary will serve as VP and GM of the new team, and Stev Sicola of the Seagate ASA group will become CTO of Xiotech. Lary was previously President and GM of Digital Equipment's Storage Products Division, subsequently part of Compaq.
