Meraki Raises $20M, Rolls Out San Francisco WiFi Network

San Franciso-based Meraki said Friday morning that the firm has raised $20M in a Series B venture funding, and rolled out a new free WiFi access network in San Francisco. The firm said the funding came from Sequoia Capital, DAG Ventures, Northgate Capital, and other existing investors. Meraki is developing technology for creating wireless networks using low power radio repeaters. The firm said that it will extend its network to every neighborhood in the city by the end of the year. The Series B funding comes on top of $5M the firm raised in February of 2007. Meraki's 802.11b/g wireless router is the result of a research project at MIT, MIT Roofnet. More information »
