Google Adds Offline Access to Docs

Mountain View-based Google said today that it has added offline access to the firm's Google Docs offering. The firm said that users of the firm's office document editing tools will not automatically synchronize between offline and online versions of files stored in the service. The new service uses Google Gears, the Google browser plugin which allows for offline access to files and data. Google Gears is also behind the offline access features of Google's RSS reader, Google Reader.
