SlideShare Raises $3M
San Francisco-based SlideShare said this morning that it has raised $3M in a Series A funding. The round was led by Venrock, which has added general partner David Siminoff to the firm's board of directors. SlideShare said the funding will go towards expanding its San Francisco operations, for product development, and to accelerate customer adoption. SlideShare operates an online web site which allows people to upload PowerPoint and other presentations to the web. The firm is also backed by angel investors Hal R. Varian of Google; Guy Kawasaki of Garage Technology Ventures; Ross Mayfield of Socialtext; Dave McClure; Marc Cuban of Broadcast.com; Ariel Poler; Yee Lee; Jonathan Abramas of Socializr; and Saul Klein of The Accelerator Group.
