Yahoo Inks Deal With Google, Ends Microsoft Talks

Yahoo! Inc.! said Thursday night that it has ended its talks with Microsoft, and at the same time inked an online advertising deal with Google. According to Yahoo, it has concluded discussions with Microsoft on both acquisition of all of Yahoo or a partial acquisition. Yahoo said in a statement that Microsoft's proposed acquisition of its search business "would not be consistent with the company's view of the converging search and display marketplaces." Google and Yahoo said that they are now in an agreement to let Yahoo use Google AdSense for Search and AdSense for Content for advertising, in the U.S. and Canada. The companies said they will delay implementation for up to three and a half months to give the U.S. Department of Justice time to review the arrangement.
