Elance Adds Reporting Tools, Trumpets Growth

Mountain View-based Elance, an online service for connecting freelancers with companies, said today that the firm has rolled out a new system to allow its employers and service providers to communicate, collaborate, and handle reporting and payment. The new system--which Elance calls its Remote Work System--handles invoicing, payments, and 1099 tax forms, as well as proposal evaluation and other collaboration. The firm also said it has now completed more than $100M in customer billings since 2006, and that it has more than 100,000 service providers in its system. Elance claims it now has an average of 20,000 new jobs posted every month on its site.
