Eye-Fi, SmugMug Team Up On Geotagging, Hotspots

Mountain View-based firms SmugMug and Eye-Fi said today that the two companies have partnered on a deal to connect hotspot and geotagging to SmugMug members using Eye-Fi's hardware. SmugMug, which runs an online photo sharing site, and Eye-Fi, which manufactures wireless memory cards, said that the partnership will provide free geotagging and hotspot access to SmugMug and Eye-Fi customers. According to the two, Eye-Fi users who choose SmugMug for their photo sharing service will get one year of hotspot access, via a deal Eye-Fi has with wireless hotspot provider Wayport. Eye-Fi is venture backed by LMS Capital, Opus Capital, Shasta Ventures and TransLink Capital.
