Google Adds Book Preview API
Mountain View-based Google said Monday afternoon that it has rolled out a new Book Preview service which allows book retailers, publishers, and others to offer pop-up book previews based on Google's Book Search service. Google's new service allows users to click on a button to browse through a book on any web site; the new service will be offered via Borders.com, Buy.com, and Powell's Books, among others, along with sites like Books-a-Million, A1Books, The Book Depository, and others. The new service is available through an API for developers. Google said the previews are limited to 20 percent of any book.
