Kongregate Creates Community Site, Lands Scion

San Francisco-based independent games site Kongregate said this morning that it has launched a new community site is calling Kongregate Labs. According to Kongregate, the community will features tutorials, chat, forums, as well as tools and other assets for developers to create their own original games for the Kongregate site. In addition, Kongregate said it has inked a promotion with automotive brand Scion, which will be the sole sponsor of Kongregate Labs in a eight-week promotion. Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed. Scion will sponsor a number of awards for developers of games on the Kongregate site as part of the promotion. Kongregate is venture backed by Grelock Partners and Bezos Expeditions, in addition to angels Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Joe Kraus (Excite, JotSPot), Jeff Clavier, and Richard Wolpert.
