Apple Drops DRM, Changes iTunes Pricing

Among a slew of announcements at MacWorld, including the announcement of a new 17" MacBook Pro with eight hour battery life and new versions of iLife and iWork, Apple said it is dropping DRM in its iTunes music store, making eight million tracks available without DRM restrictions, with plans to add another 2 million by the end of the quarter. The firm also created a tiered pricing scheme where users will pay more for DRM-free tracks, and as little as 69 cents for older music tracks.
