FormFactor Chops 22 Percent Of Staff

Livermore-based FormFactor, which makes advanced wafer probe cards used for semiconductor testing, said Tuesday afternoon that the firm will reduce its workforce by 22 percent. According to the firm, the move is due to "extraordinary times" for the semiconductor market and its customers. Number of employees affected by the move was not disclosed, however, the firm did say it would take $8M in charges related to the cuts. FormFactor described the move as a reaction to a "rapid slowdown" in its customers investment plans. FormFactor's products are used in wafer sort, burn-in, and device performance testing during the manufacture of semiconductor wafers.
