Cloudera Takes $5M
Burlingame-based Cloudera, which is commercializing the software behind Apache open source project Hadoop, said this morning that it has raised $5M in a Series A financing round. The round was led by Accel Partners, and also included a large number of prominent angel investors. Hadoop is a software package used to replicate data across parallel computing clusters, used to distribute data processing. cloudera was founded by Mike Olson, formerly at Oracle and Sleepcat Software; Chritophe Bisciglia, from Google; Dr. Amr Awadallah, co-founder of VivaSmart; and Jeff Mannerbacher, of Facebook.
