ShotSpotter Buys Technology, Assets From QinetiQ

Mountain View-based gunshot locating device manufacturer ShotSpotter announced Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire the gunshot detection system technology developed by QinetiQ North America Operations LLC of McLean, Va. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ShotSpotter said it will purchase the operating assets, technology and customer list for QinetiQ's SECURES system, which pinpoints gunshot locations for law enforcement agencies and other first-response groups. ShotSpotter noted that it will become the exclusive licensee for the SECURES product line patent portfolio within the public safety and law enforcement sectors. ShotSpotter added that both companies will work together to address international defense markets.
