Cisco In Alliance With Clearwire

San Jose-based Cisco and WiMAX networking firm Clearwire disclosed today that the two are in an alliance. According to Cisco and Clearwire, Cisco will supply the infrastructure hardware for Clearwire's network, including supplying routers, firewalls, and other infrastructure equipment for Clearwire's WiMAX network buildout. Financial terms of the alliance were not discussed by the company. In addition to supplying infrastructure to Clearwire, the two said that Cisco will also build new, mobile WiMAX devices for the consumer, small office and home office (SOHO), and small and medium sized (SMB) markets.
