Google's Schmidt Resigns From Apple Board
Cupertino-based Apple Computer announced today that Google CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt is resigning from its board of directors, as Google and Apple are increasingly going head to head in the software market. According, to Apple's Steve Jobs, Schmidt--who has been on the firm's board since August of 2006--is resigning because Google has begun to "enter more of Apple's core business, with Android and now Chrome OS." Jobs said in a statement that Apple and Schmidt have "mutually decided" that Eric should resign his position on Apple's board, even though Schmidt had been recusing himself from board meetings where there was a potential conflict of interest.
