Fortinet Buys Assets Of Woven Systems
Sunnyvale-based Fortinet, a developer of security and threat management products, said Wednesday that it has acquired certain assets and intellectual property of Woven Systems, which was a provider of Ethernet switches. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Fortinet said it would use the technology acquired in the buy to enhance performance of its FortiGate-5000 Series of security products. Woven developed a custom switching ASIC with traffic management capability on 10GbE networks. Fortinet said it plans to continue selling certain Woven products and to provide support to new and existing customers who purchase support contracts from the company. Woven Systems, which was backed by Goldman Sachs & Co., Palomar Ventures, and Mohr Davidow Ventures, shut down in May.
