PBS NewsHour Hits YouTube

Jim Lehrer, the anchor of PBS NewsHour, announced along with Google's YouTube video sharing site last night that the broadcast program is launching a major initiative with YouTube, as part of a re-launch of its program and website. According to a blog post by Lehrer and YouTube Strategic Partnership Manager Obadiah Greenberg, the new PBS NewsHour Channel on YouTube will host nightly reports on the site, the same night those broadcasts air on PBS. Financial details of the initiative were not disclosed. The YouTube effort is part of a larger effort by PBS NewsHour to connect its TV and web operations, and to extend its viewership on new platforms.
