VMware Buys EMC's Ionix

Palo Alto-based VMware, which develops virtualization software, and data storage giant EMC said Thursday afternoon that EMC is selling certain software products and expertise from EMC's Ionix IT management business. The deal is worth up to $200M in cash. VMware said the deal covers all technology and intellectual property of FastScale, Application Discovery Manager, Server Configuration Manager and Service Manager products from EMC.
