BrightSource Energy Banks Another $150M
Oakland-based utility-scale solar thermal power plant developer BrightSource Energy said today that it has raised an additional, $150M in a Series D funding round. According to BrightSource, the funding brings it total funding to more than $300M. The funding came from Alstom, the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), VantagePoint Venture Partners, Morgan Stanley and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. The company said the new funding will go to support its 2,610 megawatt worth of contracts with PG&E and Southern California Edison , as well as for international expansion.
