Google Reaches Agreement With FTC On Privacy

Google said today that it has reached an agreement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, over issues raised by the firm's launch of the Google Buzz service. Saying that the launch "fell short of our usual standards for transparency and user control", Google said it has agreed with the FTC to address its concerns. The search engine giant said it will receive an independent review of our privacy procedures once every two years, and that it will ask users to give us affirmative consent before we change how we share their personal information. The FTC inquiries came after Google launched Buzz in February of last year, revealing user's contact lists, who you emailed and chatted with the most, and more.
