Facebook Details Gowalla Buy

More details of the acquisition by Facebook of location-based check-in service Gowalla emerged Monday, as both Facebook and Gowalla detailed the acquisition terms. Financial details of the deal were not released, however, Gowalla will be shutting down its service by January, and Gowalla's founders are moving to Facebook's California offices as part of the acquisition. Gowalla founder Josh Williams told users in a blog post that the service will be winding down at the end of January, with plans to allowing users to export data from the service. Facebook is not acquiring the service, or Gowalla's user data, as part of the acquisition.
