NVIDIA, Intellectual Ventures Snag Patents From IPWireless

Santa Clara-based NVIDIA, the developer of graphics chips, has tied with patent storehouse Intellectual Ventures to acquire approximately 500 patents from IPWireless. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. NVNDIA and IV said that the patents cover some of the "most vital technology areas" in the wireless market. IV and NVIDIA said they will split the ownership of the patents, which will allow NVIDIA to "expand its footprint" in the mobile communications industry.
