Upstart Trades Capital For Grads' Future Income
Palo Alto-based Upstart, a new startup which helps college graduates and entrepreneurs raise capital for a share of their income over a 10 year period, said today that it has launched, with backing form Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, NEA, Google Ventures, First Round Capital, Crunchfund, and Dallas Maverick's owner Mark Cuban. The firm--founded by ex-Googlers--lets students raise capital for school, startups, and more by committing to paying back a "small share" of their income over the next 10 years. The firm did not say how much it has raised for the company. Upstart is led by former Google Enterprise president Dave Girouard. More information »
