Platfora Raises $20M

San Mateo-based Platfora, a developer of software used for big data and business intelligence, said it has raised $20M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Battery Ventures, and also included Andreessen Horowitz and Sutter Hill Ventures. Roger Lee of Battery Ventures joins the company's board as part of the funding. The company said the funds will go to expand sales and marketing and to build out its product engineering and design team. Platfora provides in-memory database technology for Hadoop, which helps accelerates data analysis processes using that software. The firm also is backed by In-Q-Tel. More information »
