Cisco Buys Sourcefire For $2.7 Billion
San Jose-based Cisco is acquiring security producst firm Sourcefire, in a deal worth approximately $2.7 billion in cash, the two companies said this morning. Sourcefire develops advanced threat protection products aimed at helping to automate IT security. Cisco said it will pay $76 per share in cash for each share of Sourcefire. Cisco said the deal will "accelerate delivery" of its security strategy.
