Location Labs Acquired By AVG Technologies

Emeryville-based Locaion Labs, a developer of security software for mobile devices, has been acquired by cybersecurity developer AVG Technologies N.V.. AVG said it will pay $140M upfront, plus up to $80M in cash in earn out for Location Labs. AVG said the acquisition will provide it with a platform of personal security products for mobile devices, and will help broaden its mobile security business. Location Labs was founded by Tasso Roumeliotis, who will continue to lead the company's business.
