Altiscale Gains $30M For Hadoop Hosting

Palo Alto-based Altiscale, a provider of cloud-based Hadoop software and services, said Tuesday that it has raised $30M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by Northgate Capital, and also included Sequoia Capital and General Catalyst Partners. Altiscale says it has now raised $42M for its services, which enables companies to implement Hadoop in the cloud--rather than trying to set up and maintain their own Hadoop operations. The company is led by Raymie Stata. The firm said the funds will go towards customer support, marketing, sales and product development efforts. More information »
