LinkedIn Buys Lynda.com For $1.5 Billion

Mountain View-based LinkedIn said this morning that it has acquired Lynda.com, for $1.5 billion in cash and stock. LinkedIn said it paid 52 percent in cash and 48 percent in stock for Lynda.com, which was based in Carpinteria, California, and offers up an online video-based learning site teaching a wide range of graphic arts, business, and other skills. LinkedIn said it expects to hire most members of lynda.com's team as part of the acquisition.
