Micrel Acquired By Microchip

San Jose-based Micrel, which develops a wide range of semiconductors, ranging from power management and clock ICs to high speed communications and wireless chips, is in a deal to be acquired by Microchip, the two companies said Thursday. The deal is worth $744M after accounting for cash on Micrel's balance sheet, or approximately $14.00 per share in cash or stock. Microchip is based in Chandler, Arizona.
