Intel Buys Recon Instruments For Sports Heads Up Displays
Intel has acquired Recon Instruments, a developer of connected eyewear aimed at the sports and other environments. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Recon makes heads up displays which mount on bicycle helmets, snow goggles, and other eyewear. Intel said the move will help it expand the market for head mounted display products and technologies. Recon had used Intel's chips and technology in its products, and had received a round of funding from Intel Capital back in 2013. Recon was based in Vancouver, BC.
