Carbon3D Snags $100M For 3D Printing
Redwood City-based Carbon3D, a developer of 3D printers aimed not at prototyping, but at larger run production, said this morning that it has raised $100M in a new funding round. The funding was led by Google Ventures, and also included Yuri Milner, Reinet Fund S.C.A., F.I.S., along with Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake Kraftwerk and Northgate Capital, plus Autodesk. Carbon3D uses a photochemical process for 3D printing, which it is being aimed at final parts for the automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace, athletic apparel and industrial products area.
