Jaunt Raises $65M For Cinematic Virtual Reality Technology

Palo Alto-based Jaunt announced this morning that it has raised $65M in a funding round, to go towards the company's cinematic virtual reality efforts. The Series C funding was led by The Walt Disney Company, Evolution Media Partners, and China Media Capital (CMC). ProSiebenSat.1 SE, Axel Springer SE, The Madison Square Garden Company plus Google Ventures, Highland Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Sky and SV Angel also participated in the funding. Jaunt said the funding goes towards both expanding its teams as well as scaling up to production. Jaunt develops camera hardware and software production tools specifically aimed at creating virtual reality films. The company is led by Jens Christensen.
